The newly formed Daejeon Ice Hockey League is looking for players to fill out its rosters. We have open shinny hockey every Monday night at 10:30pm (1 hour to 90 minutes) and play games on Sundays. You need full equipment for the games. Stick and skates are okay for shinny, but not recommended (if you get hurt, it's your fault). Right now we have games every two weeks or so with a team of guys from Cheongju. Once we get enough people coming out, we plan to start up a four-team ice hockey league in Daejeon. Men and women are welcome. Players of all skill levels are welcome...it's pretty casual. We play at Namsun Ice Rink in Daejeon. There is a hockey equipment shop right across the street from the rink. Some of the guys have had equipment shipped over from Canada, and it is not as expensive as you might think. I assume that postage is simialr for the US. Also, buying equipment here is comparable to Canada price-wise, so it isn't that hard to get kitted up. For those that are inclined, you can get suited up here, head to toe plus stick, for 800,000 won. So, if your itching to play hockey here in South Korea, check out the Daejeon Ice Hockey League at www.hockeypage.com/dihl or contact MIchael at 019-655-4096.
