Hello
I really enjoy diving... These days we have a young daughter and I don't dive as often as I would like to (everyday!)
I live in Shihung (kyoungido) and dive as often as possible. I usually manage to get to the east sea once every two months or so. We went last weekend and the water is still warm (around 20). I have it on good authority that it will stay warm enough for diving until december. I think another expedition in November is in order. Sokcho has a really good dive resort that I've been to many times...
As I stated earlier... I want to dive more! I regularly dive solo in shallow water. I know all the books say this is dangerous. Perhaps it is. I find it relaxing and at less than 10 meters no more risky than snorkling.
I've tried diving with random people on boat dives and find that the koreans generally go as deep as possible, as fast as possible, and loot the ocean for all they can get. I REALLY hate this and thus dive alone.
Is there anyone out there who has a conservation/safety/fun/relaxtion focus in their diving? I need to find a buddy I can trust for diving in Korea. I don't really enjoy diving deep for the sake of it. I'd rather dive at a shallower depth for longer and simply enjoy the sea

Kelly, I know what you mean re: diving with Koreans. It's not my style. I am not sure where in Gyeongi-do Shihung is. There are three foreign run clubs/shops in the area though. Deep Blue Quest is closest to Seoul (actually it is based in Paju, just north of Seoul). Aqautic Frontier is based out of Osan. Suwon Scuba is based in, you guessed it, Suwon. Contact info or all three clubs can be found here: www.scubainkorea.com/Korean_Dive_Info/Dive_Clubs/Dive_Clubs.htmGood luck.
